Consent is agreement that is freely given, informed and ongoing. It is the foundation everything else on this site is built on. Not a box you tick once at the start, but something that stays true the whole way through, and that anyone can change their mind about at any point.

That sounds simple, and mostly it is, but the details are where it lives. Freely given means without pressure, guilt or a power imbalance doing the deciding. Informed means everyone knows what they are agreeing to. Ongoing means it is checked, not assumed, and that a yes earlier is not a yes forever.

It also runs both ways. Consent is as much about reading and respecting someone else’s as it is about voicing your own.

This is the starting point for consent. More guides are coming soon.
